Why you want to do the program

In my perspective, management is a game of control. Besides, with the increasing growth in the global organizational concepts, there is a need for these concepts to be made more efficient and effective. Moreover, my motivation to pursue management comes from the new technology, which involves automation and networking information and which influences the behavior of business hence enabling critical transformation. Also, my interest in pursuing MSC. Global management originates from my family's natural aptitude for business and trading. Therefore, having grown in a business environment, I have always been attracted by the idea of being a great decision-maker in an organization. Thus, from this interest of being among organization management, I have come to realize that being an ordinary employee is not satisfying. Furthermore, my skills, BSc Business Management from the University of Nottingham, and my previous professional background motivate me to pursue my dream of being among the management of one of the international companies.

Similarly, I am fascinated to study global management to discover how organizations work. From my childhood, I have come to realize that organizations are fascinating to understand. Therefore, learning management can help me gain an advantage in my future career. Besides, I am fascinated to learn to be a professional manager to manage various organizations. Masters of management equips students with both theoretical and emphatically knowledge, which leads them to be organized and encourage management skills. Also, I am fascinated to study management to acquire research skills and other transferable skills, which are significant in solving most of the global management challenges. Looking at my educational background, I have pursued BSc Business Management from the University of Nottingham. This course equipped me with management planning, finance, human resource, and marketing skills, which are significant to the masters of management programs. Nevertheless, I pursued GCSE’S from Harrow College, which equipped me with management skills and other critical skills applicable to global management.

BSc Business Management from the University of Nottingham, have equipped me with a solid grounding in critical elements like management, entrepreneurship, business theory, economics, marketing, business law, accounting, among other sectors. More importantly, I have learned how to manage limited resources to grow an organization and turn it into a profitable organization. However, I have realized that management is a broad field with a variety of career paths. However, I am fascinated to pursue global management to be able to become a chief executive officer effectively. I am interested in leading top global companies. Apart from being the senior-most administrator, other roles in this position include entrepreneurship, marketing, strategizing, hiring, and terminating staff managing public relations and other roles. Other than professional roles, I am interested in pursuing global management to understand the alternative epistemological and philosophical positions that provide the aspects of research design, theory construction as well as selection of appropriate analytical techniques.

From my studies, I wish to find a stable job in the top organization and later start my consultation business. Global management program equips students with extensive knowledge and understanding of the real challenges faced by organizations and managers, mainly these operating in a global context. Since the course offers the opportunity to specialize, I believe that pursuing the program would enable me to acquire the appropriate knowledge to fulfill my dream of working in a top international organization and later starting my management consulting company to help other companies deal with management challenges. Lastly, I have discovered that I have chosen the university that will help me to be at my very best and which will enhance multidisciplinary exploration to prepare me for the modern job market.

How will studying management theory help you to understand management practice?

Theories are perspectives where an individual makes sense of their world experiences. Theories are informed assumptions that explain the relationship between various observable facts. The facts are crucial in the way we approach our world, thus making management theories critical to understanding management practices. First, management theories are the basis of understanding what is experienced in the management field. For instance, the modern management theory provides a procedure that utilizes mathematical techniques like cost and statistical analysis to make rational decisions in the workplace. Therefore, since the theories provide criteria for determining what is relevant, studying management theories is critical to enhancing my skills in management. Additionally, management theories enable individuals to communicate effectively hence making the development of relationships more comfortable and practical. For instance, learning the human relations theories creates an understanding of the importance of communication in management practices hence critical to solving some of the daily challenges in management.

Moreover, management theories enable us to learn about our world. The theories provide an individual with better and alternative ways of looking at the world. Therefore, via understanding management theories and looking at the world from a different perspective, I will be able to improve work methods and the degree of accuracy hence increasing productivity.

Similarly, management theories stimulate an individual into adopting a more positive role in leadership at the workplace hence contributing to the physical working conditions for employees, which is critical to productivity. More importantly, studying management theories is essential to management practice since it helps an individual to evaluate events and patterns within the organization to come up with the most appropriate management approach. For instance, the systems management theory includes various components that should work in harmony for other platforms to function optimally. Based on the theory, workers are the most critical components of an organization. Thus with this knowledge, management practices are informed hence maximizing productivity. This means that management theories are fundamental to me and my practice.

Explain, in your own words, the main things that managers do

Managers are the individual in charge of the facilities they work in and the employees in the facilities; hence require good management and leadership skills. Managers have various roles, including planning for job’s daily schedule and other roles critical for increasing productivity. From the description, managers take the role of leadership in their organization. Managers also provide leadership to the whole organization hence being critical to the management of the performance and responsibilities of everyone in the organization. Additionally, managers are monitors. Under this role, managers often research for information related to their industry and company hence require significant research skills. This role promotes and controls the productivity and well-being of their institutions. More importantly, managers are entrepreneurs. Under this role, mangers, generating new ideas and takes the necessary risk to implement them. Therefore, critical thinking and analytical skills are critical.

Furthermore, a manager is a top administrator in an organization hence takes the responsibility of a resource allocator. Under this role, managers explore the needs of an organization and determine where organizational resources are best applied. This means that it requires analytical skills and problem-solving skills. Some of the resources in the company include; human resources, funding, and other organizational resources. This role makes the role of managers in an organization critical and delicate. Besides, managers take the role of a negotiator. They take part in both direct and indirect negotiations within the organization. Therefore, due to this role, managers should possess excellent skills in communication. Also, managers are spokespersons. They speak for the organization and are responsible for transmitting information concerning the organization and its goals to the outside people. This reveals that managers should poses excellent customer service skills for them to interact well with customers and other people. In conclusion, the roles of managers are critical and delicate hence require qualified individuals.

What do you hope to gain by studying management at the LSE?

The Master of Global Management is a course that equips students with the necessary empirical and theoretical knowledge to be strong managers and entrepreneurs. The course also enables students to understand various cultures around the world and the realities of international business. I have realized that global business has become an integral part of our contemporary business environment. Therefore, managers are required to lead multi-cultural business entities effectively. Therefore, competent and confident professionals need to venture into this sector.

Therefore, being qualified and fascinated in studying masters in global management, I expect to be fully prepared for the modern-day job markets and also, be prepared for the role of an entrepreneur. Therefore, from studying this course, I expect the skills needed in the global job market and management- including resource allocation, global communication skills, and human resource management. Besides, global managers require a strong background in global business practices. Therefore, I hope to be equipped with international financial reporting standards skills, and accounting skills to prosper in this sector.

Also, since local human resource management is different from overseeing management, I hope to be equipped with skills to manage operations and coordinate people globally to achieve the goals of any global organization. These skills will help me in running globalized businesses while at the management level. Similarly, I hope to be equipped with advanced decision-making skills which are critical to being calm under pressure, adapting to the harsh international business environment, and making decisions in high-risk high-reward situations. I also need to learn a wide range of creativity and innovation processes and techniques.

The program application is a demanding process, therefore, I wish to learn extensive knowledge and critical understanding of the management consultancy industry which will enable me to start a global management consultancy company hence fulfilling my dreams. Therefore, studying global management is critical to my life, my profession and a fulfilling career.
