Research on Fashion Textiles

Introduction

Individual assessment helps to discuss own understanding and knowledge about the working activities, where it is possible for the speaker to share the opinion and experience gathered during the works. This individual report provides me a scope to discuss about my knowledge and understanding that I have gained during the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition presentation, where Balenciaga and V&A is a craftsmanship and designer of fashionable clothing with different fabrics and textures. I try to engage with my team members to represent the presentation for exhibition and gain in depth knowledge and experience during the process where I try to participate actively to develop the presentation and contribute positively in the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition.

Research

Research and activities must be conducted properly and in this regard research skill is necessary to improve while conducting the study. I try to conduct the research on the fashionable clothing products where the individuals try to choose the clothes as per the texture and fabrics used in the clothing. In the recent years, the customers are concerned about the fabrics and texture of the fabrics while choosing the clothes and making the effective purchase decision for the clothes. In this regard, I try to conduct the research on the texture and fabrics which are suitable for designing the fashionable clothing. The fashion industry is growing at a rapid rate and the customers refer smooth fabric and texture for choosing their clothes (Venkatraman, Scott and Liauw, 2020). I try to gain idea about the fashionable clothing, where texture means the surface appearance of fabrics and the customers try to judge the clothes according the textures including smooth, rough, soft, crisp, shiny, dull, loopy, furry and fuzzy. Out of these textures, the customers try to choose their purchasing basket where they try to gain satisfaction out of those clothing products. Recently, the fabrics used in the fashionable clothing products are silk, chiffon and wool, where the smoothness of clothing is mandatory to be maintained to attract the customers (Guan, 2017). In addition to this, recently, there is trend of animal printing which is also effective to attract the customers with fashionable clothes (Tong, Wong and Kwong, 2017).

Methods of research

Method of the research is mandatory to conduct it ethically and complete the study in a systematic way. I try to choose proper method to collect information and analyse the data and information through proper representation of the gathered information. I choose to gather information through secondary sources of information and it is known as secondary data collection method. I also choose the qualitative data analysis approach which is effective for conducting the research, where I try to represent the gathered information through qualitative data and analyse the information for representing the presentation successfully. The fabric and texture research further provides me a scope to gather in-depth knowledge about the recent fabrics utilised in producing the fashionable clothes, where the customers are concerned about textures for choosing the right clothes as per their choice and preferences (Kim, Kim and Lee, 2019).

Sources

The major sources of information are books, journals and articles, where I try to add the collected journals on the references. These are the secondary sources of inflation from where I am successful to gather authentic information regarding my research which is textures and fabrics in the fashionable clothes. I try to research through collecting secondary sources of information and utilise the gathered information for presenting the recent fabrics and textures in the fashion clothing products.

Time period

While conducting the research, I mainly consider the recent time period and try to understand the customer’s choice and preferences in choosing the clothes according to tits textures and fabrics. I also try to include the journals and articles which are approximately 5 to 6 years old form today, so that I can consider the recent time period and gather understanding and information about the fashionable clothing textures and fabrics (Lu, Mok and Jin, 2017).

Own learning process

During the presentation, I try to improve my participation in the presentation where I am successful to improve my cooperative skill. I try to improve my creative thinking skill as well as emotional intelligence during the coursework, where I am able to understand other’s perspectives and cooperate with them for developing the group presentation. Through this presentation, I am able to know my potential and skill to conduct research which further enhances my research skill and the skill of creative analysis, where I am successful to gather data and information for conducting the research. I try to improve my leadership skill as well for participating in the team and cooperate with others for making the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition successful.

Way to conduct this differently

The research can be done differently through case study analysis or arranging interview with the clothing manufacturers who can participate actively to share the authentic and relevant data and information about the textures and fabrics utilised in producing the clothes in the recent era of globalisation. Through arranging the interview data, I would be able to gather authentic information about the recent trend of using textures and fabrics in the clothes to attract the customers.

Experience in Balenciaga and V&A exhibition

During the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition, I am able to improve my communication skill which is good for my future career. I try to interact with people at the exhibition and represent my thought which is considered to be great achievement for me as I am able to maintain positive body language and represent my thought efficiently in front of others. The group members further inspire me and boost confidence during the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition. All the members are cooperative and motivate each other to make the exhibition successful. Representing the visual content in front of the participants is the interesting part where it is possible to attract them and share the information about the recent trend of textures and fabrics utilised in manufacturing the fashionable clothes.

Conclusion

I try to participate actively in the Balenciaga and V&A exhibition and cooperate with the group members to make the presentation successful, where I am also able to improve my creative analytical skill as well as cooperation and communication skill which would be beneficial for my future professional career.
