Unveiling My Passion for Leadership

ESSAY A

Maya Angelou stated that “Nothing will work unless you do.” From childhood, I have come to discover that my passion lies in great achievement and guiding people to achieve success. Therefore, I can conclude that what matters most to me is leadership. Since long time ago, my family has always been involved in the business world and I have been always fascinated by how they make decisions about their daily business activities. This made me realize that business is all about leadership which enable an individual to remain competitive in the market. Moreover, being an individual who is keen on details and who is observant, I have come to realize that leadership matters from home to small institution like village gathering and even to international organizations. For a long time, being an empathetic and a problem-solving individual, my life has been in crisis over the challenges that are witness in the world. For instance, I tried to question myself why is the world on crisis every time? Who is responsible for the millions of people who die due to poverty challenges? Who is to blame for the increasing poverty in the world? “What is my purpose in life? All these questions among others made me reflect who I am and what I need in life- a leadership position. Moreover, after reading a book by James Collins, “Good to Great”, which inspired me on how an individual can be great, I have come to realize my passion. Besides, with consideration to my core values, which includes being persistent, courageous, enthusiastic, innovative, time manager among other skills, I have come to realize that my passion lies in leadership and it matters most to me.

Studies show that no activity, set of rules or program can be compared to having fulfilled and happy employees. Moreover, I have come to realize that, for the company to enjoy a competitive advantage, its leadership matters the most. From this knowledge, I have developed a passion for leadership which I believe is very crucial in development and productivity in organizations. For instance, companies like twitter having being endowed with good leadership, they have developed the best organizational culture which every employee can be proud of. Therefore, just like Collins, I need to be great, in terms of leadership.

Moreover, I have come to realize that, the unemployment rate globally though vary from one state to another the world unemployment rate is increasing. However, I believe that leaders should be visionary, innovative, committed, good decision-makers and accountable. With all these traits and especially being innovative, I believe that the current leaders should be able to address the unemployment challenge globally. However, being a leader, I believe I am devoted to change the world unemployment situation especially after attaining more knowledge in my MBA.

Being an individual who is devoted to gain knowledge and who reads widely, I have come to realize that as of 2015, 10 per cent of the world’s population lived below the poverty line. Though, these statistics have reduced by 36 per cent since 1990. Being a keen individual to my surrounding, I have come to realize some gap in today’s leadership. However, I understand how challenging it is to change everyone in the world as well as their leadership traits. However, I can do my part. In the same way, I admire Jack Patrick Dorsey for his leadership and the ability to build an organizational culture which is friendlier and a team-oriented environment, being a good global leader can change someone for better and this can help address the poverty level and other solvable problems in the world.

Besides, it is also logical that leaders Provide guidance which involves training as well as instructing team, encouraging creativity among people, fostering good value, solving issues and building a favorable work environment. Being an entrepreneur and a marketing fascinated individual, I believe that I can assume all these roles, therefore, making an organization profitable. Also, leadership plays a very crucial role in the success of any firm and organization as mentioned earlier. Failure to have the best leadership, no organization can work efficiently. Since all organization are created to achieve certain objectives via human group, controlling this human group is very crucial. Therefore, this gives me the zeal to change world leadership. Lastly, Oprah Winfrey stated that “Passion is energy. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” which explain why leadership matters most to me.

Besides, Looking at my personality, I am self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and a positive individual who always strives to achieve the best. Besides, I have excellent IT skills which I have acquired through exposure to different technologies scenarios and personal interests. Nevertheless, I strongly consider myself a flexible individual with core skills required to thrive in today’s business environment. From my family background, I have also learnt to respect others and being persistent which gives me qualities of a being good leader and determined students. However, I am fully aware that I have miles to go in the long-distance quest for excellence and so, I want to be challenged to gain proficiency in strategic financial planning and management. I believe that I can only be a challenge in your institution environment where students are self-motivated, committed and ambitious to make the world a better place to live.

From my zeal to sharpen my skills and expertise in the field of business and achieve my objective of becoming a business magnate, I believe that this institution will enable me to achieve my dreams. From logic, it can be concluded that a great university like Stanford opens doors and gives an individual theoretical foundation of learning which lasts a lifetime. Moreover, it promotes excellent networking. Lastly, being interested in co-curriculum activities, it is an advantage being in Stanford since it gives students equal chances to participate in curriculum activities hence offered a chance in your precious institution, I am willing to participate in your institution sports, arts and other clubs to advance its sports reputation.
