Organisational Health and Business Success

The performance of a business enterprise is dependent on a wide variety of factors and forces. One of them is organisational health (Chan, Shaffer and Snape, 2014). Healthy organisations tend to have a very robust culture and share strong relations with the employees, and it results in motivated and loyal employees. Culture is one of the main aspects of organisational health. Amazon regularly has been voted as one of the firms that has the best working culture. Moreover, the employee shares strong relations with the management. This makes them not only more loyal towards the company, but they also try to perform to the best of their skills and abilities. Amazon’s management promotes and encourages boldness among its employees. Herein it encourages the employees to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions with their managers and supervisors (Hoque, 2014). This way necessary changes to business processes and systems are easily implemented. In addition, it also helps during the change process. Change is a very big part of the culture at Amazon. The company believes in changing and upgrading the different aspects of its operations. This way the employees try to fully utilise their skills and abilities to contribute as much as they can towards the firms’ goals and objectives. Thus, it shows that positive organisational health promotes superior performance in Amazon because it shares strong relations with the employees and also gains their loyalty (Melville, Kraemer and Gurbaxani, 2014).

Another example to understand the impact of organisational health on business performance is that of Google. Initially, the company was not able to manage its resources, because of a lack of intelligence. However, as it grew the firm got healthier and intelligent. This prompted the management to determine better ways to manage its resources like manpower and capital (Brynjolfsson and Hitt, 2010). Today, Google is among the most valued brand in the world. This is because the company has used the concept of organisational health to a great extent and has been successful in developing a strong image in the market. Apart from developing strong relations with the employees, the company also commands a superior position in the technology industry. The company performs different activities to help the community grow and develop. It has helped Google to develop a unique image and reputation in the market (Hoque, 2014). The CSR activities performed by the company have made it an attractive investment opportunity for the investors, thereby helping it to perform better.
