PERSONAL STATEMENT

Since starting medical school, I have been drawn to several angles of the field. I have been fascinated by the intricacies of disease and the physicians’ ability to alter the course of the infection. Besides, I have always had an urge to make a positive impact on society. After witnessing the crucial role of healthcare professionals, I always knew that the medical-related field was my career path. After studying Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, I realized that the human body and its function are complex, which has always fascinated me. Unfortunately, I came to realize that over 3 billion people in more than 125 countries do not have access to dermatologic care of any kind. At the same time, I was also amazed after realizing that more than 12.4% of family medicine visits occur due to dermatological problems globally. Therefore, I have become keen on following the Postgraduate Diploma Dermatology in Clinical Practice University of South Wales (Prifysgol De Cymru). With some few years in the health care practice, I now want to gain advanced level skills and knowledge in dermatology and specialize in Clinical Dermatology to help fill the gap in dermatology globally and help more people while promoting their welfare. Therefore, I have realized that I need to brush up the rough edges in my academic accomplishments and professional performances, especially in clinical dermatology. Thus, the postgraduate diploma study in Clinical Dermatology would sharpen my knowledge while boosting my career development. Therefore, guided by my fascination and motive to help the community, I am applying for Postgraduate Diploma Dermatology in Clinical Practice at your institution.

This field of study is designed to help healthcare professionals specialize and develop their professional backgrounds. It combines the field of medicine that captivates me most, including immunology, oncology, and infectious disease. Besides, the course gives learners a more firm grounding in the fundamentals of scientific and clinical dermatology. Moreover, it prepares students with enhanced knowledge of the scientific basis of clinical dermatology and enhances their research skills. Though the distinct features of the course have inspired my choice for your university, I am aware that it requires the most qualified and competent students. I pursued a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Sri Siddhartha Medical College, Tumkur, from my academic background. From this field of study, I was equipped with significant understanding, knowledge, skills, and attitudes to practice medicine competently and professionally. Similarly, I gained extensive knowledge of codes of practice and theoretical and practical background, making me the ideal candidate to study clinical dermatology at your institution. Besides, I also advanced my communication skills, critical thinking, and other skills, which I believe are essential in this field of study.

Additionally, from my professional background, I am currently working as a Director at Aspire2plab. In this position, I am tasked with Management, administration, and training students and staff for PLAB 2 exam. Also, I manage daily operations by overseeing financials and, among other roles, check all areas of the building to ensure the working order and cleanliness. From this position, I have learned communication and leadership skills, making me the most competent student in this field of study. Likewise, I worked as a Duty Medical Officer, Occupational Health At Arvind Ltd., Bangalore. From this position, I was the Head of the Occupational Health team, organized various medical camps and health awareness talks to the employees of Arvind Ltd. Similarly, I organized an anemia camp for all female employees of the company and a menstrual hygiene awareness camp for women on site with the aid of ObGyn department of SSNMC Hospital. From this position, I advanced my management skills, organization skills and realized the need for health care camps for less privileged people in the community. Among other experiences, I worked as a Duty Doctor in, Urology Department at Nu Hospitals. In this position, I was tasked with taking Opd history, assist in ward rounds performed by the Consultant during normal working hours, management of emergencies, completing the appropriate documentation, and among other roles, familiarizing myself with the guidelines in the hospital for the Urology department. My overall experience has shaped me into a professional, reliable, and punctual individual with the ability to deliver results.

Over the years, I have also developed critical skill sets that would give me an upper hand in clinical dermatology learning and practice. I am a result-driven, positive, proactive, and hardworking individual with a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines. Besides, I have learned to work as an independent and as a multi-disciplinary team to achieve results. However, regardless of my qualifications, I am also aware that this course is demanding and, at the same time, challenging. Therefore, I am committed to striving to achieve my best since I have selected a university that will help me be the best. Moreover, I have chosen this university due to its global academic reputation and its ability to prepare students for today's job market. I am therefore optimistic that I will be prepared well for the modern job market.
