Scrum is an agile process framework to manage the complex work with developing of the effective software system. The software development is effective in scrum, where it is possible to explore the complex working activities and create new plan to develop simplified process to manage the working activities. It is a framework of project management which is beneficial to emphasise on teamwork, accountability and iterative progress towards well defined goal. In the present scenario, it is effective for the project management team to utilise scrum, as it helps to manage the project and develop the software for the university to handle approximately over 5000 students in the campus. It is a popular system to manage track of the project progress, where it is possible for the project management team to develop framework, create the software with proper tracking and monitoring. It is also advantageous for enhancing teamwork and improving communication for the project managers and the software developer to cooperate with each other and perform as a partnership basis to achieve the future success (Bhavsar, Shah and Gopalan, 2020). It is effective for new products development, which enhances the pace of work and it is helpful for the project team to develop the software for the university to manage the student database. It provides clear understanding about meeting, tracking the roles of the people in the team and monitors the progress which is effective to achieve future success by developing the software for the university.

There are some disadvantages for which it becomes difficult for the project team to manage scrum. The team required experienced workforce and skilled labourer to develop the software and it also required experienced and commitment team to support the software development activities. On the other hand, less experienced scrum master may ruin the whole project and thus it is risky for the university to get appropriate software to manage the student database (Rola, Kuchta and Kopczyk, 2016). On the other hand, frequent changes, frequent product delivery and precise nature of the project are also other risk. However, the experienced team members in this particular project may mitigate the risk factors and utilise their skill and experience to design he software. The project team members are experience well with attest technology and skill which are advantageous for them to utilise agile scrum and develop the software for the university efficiently. The problems may arise for client involvement and scheduling due to lack of time management, poor communication and non-cooperation between the client and the project management team members.

Three potential risks have been identified in the scenario: a) the customer may identify new features during the development; b) key staff at Hegel may leave or move to Paris, c) there may be performance problems with the software when it is used heavily. Discuss how this new agile team could manage these three risks. Discuss how this agile team might monitor these three risks throughout the project.

The major potential risks associated with the new software system are such as the customers may find new features during the development, the key staff of Hegel may leave or move to Paris and there may be performance problems with the software when it is used heavily. For the new development of the software system, it becomes difficult of the client to manage the new features. As it is a new software system, the clients at the university find it difficult to handle and perform the online student database management system. It is the responsibility of the agile team members to support the clients and develop client centred approach, where the clients become habituated with the system. The project team members also need to provide continuous software management support to the customers so that the clients can understand the new system and handle it successfully (Azanha et al., 2017). On the other hand, client management is mandatory, where the project team members must improve engagement with the clients at the university through enhancing communication and cooperation so that the clients can interact with the project team members and resolve their queries about their difficulties to run the software and new database.

Secondly, if key staff members at the project team leave or move to Paris, it is the responsibility of the management team to hire new experienced staff or retain the skilled software developer from the office situated at Paris. It is necessary to retain the experienced workforce for successful completion of the project and encourage their creativity so that they are interacted to perform innovatively and design the software efficiently. Thirdly, if there is performance problems related to the software due to heavy workload, it is necessary for the project management team to cooperate with the client and give them proper technical support and advice to run the software efficiently. For managing the heavy workload, it is necessary to manage the database properly with the options available in the software and the agile team must develop clear process to handle the software easily (Srivastava, Bhardwaj and Saraswat, 2017). The agile team members are responsible for monitoring the project and improve quality of the software through continuous improve and quality management. Proper database management system and safety and security management of the student database as well as me scheduling are effective to monitor the progress and make the software successful. Continuous monitoring and time scheduling, application of the software and continuous improvement plan as per the client’s requirements are effective to manage the risk and make the software efficiently.
