Building A Client Server Network For Tma Training Centre, Oxford?

Project Idea

The Project engineered in this work got based upon IT Solutions which is regarded as the core components for any sort of organization. They include server computers that provide services to the client on a Network. They as well enable user’s computers to request services from Servers Computer. Additionally, another selection includes Microsoft's Server and Clint Operating systems because they are among the items that businesses broadly implemented. Lastly, IT Learners Developing Knowledge on technologies widely employed results in more Job Opportunities.

Project Description

The TMA Training Centre is a hypothetical Training Provider at Bristol. The organization has launched a new facility at Oxford. Thus, it is looking for an IT Bradford student with the knowledge to build a client Server Network for their new facility in Oxford. The institution is primarily composed of teachers, students and members of the staff who will make use of the Network Resources for their daily activities. Currently, there exists a cabled and implemented physical IT Infrastructure. However, there are other requirements needed. Among which include the installation of Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (x64) Operating System as their Server Operating System and Deployment of Windows 10 Professional (x64) as their client operating system. Secondly, the server computer must have the ability to administer all client computers on the network of the training center through the TMA.COM domain.

Thirdly, some of the primary roles of windows server 2012 R2, like Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Windows Deployment Services (WDS) Server, Print and Document Services and File and Storage Services require to get installed. More so, the Client computers must be able to access securely shared resources on the Network such as Printers and Shared files.

Aims and Objectives

Among the goals of the project includes building the Server Network Infrastructure for the educational training centre which will include teachers, students and members of the staff securely logging in and access resources on a Server computer. Secondly, constructing a demo environment that will prove that the users can securely access shared resources on the network and those resources can be centrally managed by the Server Computer. Lastly, produce a research document illustrating how the tasks will be performed, design and build documentation will also be produced and finally, I will carry out the evaluation.

Hardware and Software Utilised

  1. Physical Computer (Build Computer), Dell Precision.
  2. Portable Hard Driver
  3. Operating Systems (Windos Server 2012 R2 Standard 64 Bit and Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit).
  4. Applications (VMware Workstation Player 12, Cisco Packet Tracer 7.1, Planner 5D, Microsoft Office 2007, Edraw Max 6.3, Duckcapture 2.7 and AVG Internet Security Business Edition).

Project Research

For this work, the research methodologies utilized includes exploratory and descriptive research so as to perform a detailed investigation regarding the technologies integrated into the Project. Explanatory research method aims at providing the insights into an understanding of a particular problem the researcher faces. On the other hand, descriptive research helps in describing a particular phenomenon, its functions as well as characteristics. Collection of the primary data was gathered through interviews carried out with IT Staff in Bradford College to obtain a general idea of an IT system in an Academic Institution. The secondary data in this project were primarily collected from different existing resources such as study notes from the course materials, IT certification books, vendor’s website, and online sources.

Project Design

For the successful delivery of the project design, the Project Management Tools and Techniques were used to better manage the Project (Gannt Chart, Work Breakdown Structure, Milestones, and Risk Assessment). Also, concerning the Design Approach and Methodology, due to the concept of the project, it was preferred to select a straightforward and practical approach of dividing the project into six steps which are planning, designing, building, testing, optimizing and evaluating. In the Build, test and optimizing stages, I have employed the Waterfall Project Management methodology. Lastly, the Design Documentation proved to be useful at the time of the Build phase, assisting with the management and prevent misconfigurations.

Project Build

Changes to the project plan were required because of two elements outlined in the project proposal being not included in the project such as Deployment of Windows 7 Ultimate and Installation of the Web Server. The installation and Configuration of the Print and Documents Services got required considering that the objective of the project is the client computers on the Network Access securely shared resources via the Server Computer.

Since the Server computer and its configuration is the core element of the Project, the optimisation was based on increasing the Hardware capabilities and optimising the Windows Server 2012 R2 (x64) for best performance.

Evaluation

A significant amount of the time got assigned to planning in order to properly carry out the project and achieve the aims and objectives, it worked out for the planning and build phases. Secondly, investing enough time in understanding new contents, specifically on Project Management, design methodologies and as well as studying the secondary sources. Since all my time was allocated in performing the project, I believe that time management was efficient, the only issue was simplifying a significant amount of information in the expected word count and document all the steps involved during the build and test phases.

Conclusion

The aims and objectives of the project got achieved. The Server Network Infrastructure solution has been built for the Educational Training Centre. Teachers, Students, and Members of staff can securely log in and access resources on the Server Computer. Also, the sandbox environment was built to prove that the users can securely access shared resources on the network and those resources can be centrally managed by the Server computer. The Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard (x64) was properly deployed and configured on the Server computer virtual machine. Also, the Windows 10 Professional (x64) were successfully installed on the Client Computers via the WDS Server on the Network.

Order Now

The Server computer, got installed, configured and tested with some of the most important server roles, such as the Domain Name System (DNS), Active Directory Domain Services (ADDS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Windows Deployment Services, Print and Documents Server, and also the AVG Internet Security Edition was installed on the Server Operating System. A Research document illustrating how the tasks will be performed got produced, along with the design and build documentation.
