Mpharm Personal Statement

With several years’ interest in biochemical dimensions of human health and as a qualified and experienced pharmacist, I have come to realise that pharmacy possesses the power to change the lives of people. I have become fascinated by pharmacy as a career due to its impact on our daily lives. My fascination with pharmacy is based on my interest to use my passion for science to assist people as well as the society at large. The efforts of pharmaceutical researchers in discovering drugs to cure, manage, and prevent illnesses like malaria, HIV, and cancer have greatly attracted me to peruse this field of study. Therefore, it is my desire to be involved in the fight against illnesses via research. Nevertheless, my passion for research is partly motivated by my experiences of a serious illness. As a dedicated and ambitious mature learner, with a passion to gain knowledge of the complex human body’s working, I believe that studying MPharm undergraduate degree at your institution will offer a route that will propel my personal goals and intellectual interests.

My passion for my secondary education strengthened my decision to study pharmacy. This is due to the fact that it provided me with several skills as well as the knowledge required for a pharmacy degree. Additionally, theoretical and practical sides of chemistry provided me a proper understanding of the inorganic and physical aspects of the subject. The preparation of Aspirin is a topic I have particularly enjoyed and has only increased my interest in the way drugs are developed. Furthermore, to achieve my dreams, I pursued Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Kufa/College of Pharmacy where I learnt the various techniques of preparing, reviewing drugs, dispensing, and provision of additional clinical services to patients, which I believe will be crucial in this field of study. Moreover, my extensive knowledge in the mechanism of drug discovery, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, and chemical transformation makes me the most qualified candidate for this field of study. To increase my competence in this field of study, I also pursued Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework LEVEL 5, which promotes lifelong learning. Through this course, I got a better understanding of qualifications as well as future learning plans where I understood the importance of pharmacy as my career. As a self-motivated person, I have also carried out extensive research on the various branches of pharmacy and healthcare publications, which have increased my knowledge on the field. I am also a qualified/registered member of Syndicate of Iraqi.

Regarding my work history, I worked at Al Aiek Pharmacy where I was tasked with the role of pharmacist manager. Some of my roles included receiving and handling prescriptions, generating stock lists, dispensing prescriptions, delivery of medicines to other hospital’s sections, and answering customers’ questions among other roles. Moreover, I worked as a pharmacist at Al-Zahras Hospital Pharmacy where I was tasked with assembling medicines for prescriptions, provision of information to clients, supplying medicines to patients, and among other roles, supervising other pharmacy staff. From this vast work experience, I learnt communication skills, persistency, and self-motivation among other skills, which I believe will give me an advantage while studying the MPharm undergraduate degree.

Furthermore, I am an honest, motivated, and responsible person with the ability to keep information private. I have also learnt how to work with deadlines while maintaining the high-quality of work. I have developed the art of listening among other skills necessary for pharmacy. I am also multilingual with the ability to speak fluently in English and Arabic. Besides, at the professional level, I have research skills, medications dispensing, and customer service skills as well as pharmaceutical care skills.

Apart from academics, I enjoy reading a variety of books from different genres, which include mystery and horror. I have also been involved in several sports including hockey, athletics, and gym, which given a chance will appreciate being part of your university team. Lastly, I believe I have the best academic knowledge and experience to pursue an intensive pharmacy course at the university level, which will allow me to embark on a career that will fulfill my dreams. Therefore, offered a chance to study at your world-class university, I will work hard throughout my studies to ensure that I achieve each of my goals.
