Pursuing Sustainable Development

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Humankind is rapidly moving towards an unrecognizable existence. The dynamic link between the earth and humans have most of the time, captivated me. As per the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), there is a global action call to eliminate poverty while enhancing well-being and good health. While the sustainable development goals are good in uniting the world to achieving the goals together it cant be forgotten that culture plays a huge role in attaining these goals. Moreover, it is unfortunate that these goals do not take into consideration the reality of developing countries and their culture. Moreover, due to the combination of increasing demands for natural resources and environmental pressures, there has been rapid biodiversity loss and accelerating alteration of ecological processes and patterns. These changes have fatal consequences to humanity in the long term if neglected. Therefore, I am professionally and personally committed to coming up with solutions to this issue. I am therefore seeking innovative and new techniques of managing natural resources in a way that is sustainable, economically and socially. From my interests to create a world where we live in harmony with our surroundings and where we can develop our lives without hurting the environment further, I am applying for a master’s degree in sustainable development to achieve my goals. For students interested in exploring these critical issues further, seeking guidance in environmental studies dissertation help can provide valuable insights into addressing these global challenges.

Sustainable development is a discipline which enables students to explore the socio-economic, political, and environmental aspects of the inter-relationships between human development and sustainability and holds great promise for the quest to solve complex sustainable development problems. Sustainable development involves the study of economic development that is conducted without the depletion of natural resources. Therefore, the course will improve my understanding of how to economically develop without depletion of natural resources. Furthermore, the degree will enable me to develop an interdisciplinary understanding of sustainable development questions and concepts. Being from Nigeria has added to my passion of wanting to create a more sustainable world. With a population of almost 200 million, Nigeria archiving sustainability is a challenge due to scarce resources, therefore if the population left unattended, may result to fatal depletion of natural resources. Therefore being a citizen and having lived in the country my entire life, I believe that having a degree in sustainable development will help me to campaign and act towards sustainability and environmental protection.

Basically, after pursuing this course, I will be able to change people's way of living and achieve sustainability. This will be achieved via responding to processes which create environmental and social change, and strategies to promote urban environmental planning to achieve environmental justice and sustainability. Moreover, with combination of my bachelor's degree in global health and social medicine, my internships at Pathfinder international where I was able to go out into the field and see how much education is needed to create a more sustainable Nigeria, and knowledge and experience obtained from this course, I aspire to work towards achieving sustainable and just development in the world. Therefore, this makes me believe am the best candidate to study this course.
