Reflection Mission Alignment Career Fit

Mi5 is the United Kingdom’s domestic security agency that focuses on internal threats within Britain. Its principal mission is to keep the country safe, not only now but also in the future. Perhaps, the organizational values contribute immensely to Mi5 mission. According to Northcott, (2015), teamwork and professionalism being among the organizational values in Mi5 have contributed significantly to its mission whereby, working as one in Mi5 brings a common purpose that best suits everyone resulting in close partnerships. With professionalism, there are high standards of integrity as well as high-quality information hence there is strong security, ethical conducts a well as commitment and adherence to the rule of law.

Furthermore, being a postgraduate student with a Master’s degree in social policy I feel that Mi5 is a good fit for me because of the vast experience I have. Having worked in Birmingham crown courts and Birmingham & Solihull women’s aid, I was able to gain knowledge in criminal justice as well as understanding MARAC protocols. Therefore, with vast experience from various fields, Mi5 is fit for me; perhaps it will also assist in developing and strengthening new skills as stated by Brinson and Dove, (2016). Mi5 being bound by the security act of 1989 with the objective of protecting British parliamentary and counter-terrorism, it will aid in my career growth and development in social policy.

The extensive experience I have has motivated me to apply for this job. Furthermore, succeeding in life is my desire, perhaps for the betterment of the organization and also for my success. With my outstanding ability to provide mentorship, promoting social inclusion, staying focused, delivering quality work as well as meeting the organizational deadlines motivates me. Nonetheless, teamwork is part of Mi5, and I enjoy working with others in unison and collaboration. When smart and creative people work in teamwork, it is incredible because they can complete complicated projects.

My abilities of strong ethics, good communication, and organizational skills make me suitable for this job. With excellent verbal and communication skills, I can use it efficiently to converse with a large group of people within and outside the country. Furthermore, experiences in Birmingham crown courts and Birmingham & Solihull women’s Aid makes me suitable for this role.

The mi5 organization values teamwork and professionalism where there is a production of high-quality work and structurally organized activities as stipulated by Goetsch and Davis, (2014). While working as a volunteer in PACT mentoring in December 2018, I was able to lure a large group of people into social inclusion because mentoring and helping the clients with reading, writing and listening were my days to day activities. Also, while working with Birmingham & Solihull Women’s Aid in February 2017, I was able to complete different paperwork as I gain knowledge and experience in criminal justice.

Furthermore, to meet a deadline while working and mentoring people, in Sai Educational Rural Orphanage (Voluntary) December 2016, I had to start with specifics. The target groups are the specifics, then ask when the deadline is and convince to do the work now than later.

Nevertheless, breaking the assigned tasks down will assist in meeting the deadline. For instance, before visiting the orphanage in India, I had to plan well on how I will provide awareness and excellent education on child marriages and female trafficking. For the provision of quality work in the orphanage I had to document everything for reference, understand the topics to be taught to the young females and lastly, assign accountability to the holders of different processes during the creation of awareness. The outcome of all the planning resulted in quality work; the children from the Indian orphanage were able to learn on how to protect themselves from the female trafficking practices as well as early marriages.

Some of my day to day issues include; attending to client’s discussions on feelings and emotions, being dependable and reliable to my clients so that they are not misled. Being a Postgraduate student with a Master degree in Social Policy, I had to advise and provide services to the community and society as a whole. For instance, in 2018 December, working as a volunteer in PACT mentoring I met with various clients holding different needs. Most of the clients did not know how to read and write therefore some of the options I considered are attending different appointments with the clients and also assisting them with reading and writing so that they can understand why they were offended by their offenders. Working in Sai Educational Rural orphanage as a volunteer in December 2016 I also encountered routine problems such as female trafficking and child marriages in Indian society. The option I considered, in this case, is creating awareness by providing excellent education because it is an efficient method to be used in enlightening the people in the dark. According to Cai and Yang, (2018), the outcome of creating awareness makes the people educated and, therefore, they can evade and protect themselves from female trafficking and child marriages.
