Goals, Features and Phases of Development of the Online Restaurant Website

This report covers the design and implement of a shopping website and in this case an e-restaurant website. There is identification of the tools necessary for the development of the website such as HTML 5, RIA and others that will be mentioned. Another objective is optimization of the developed website using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools and analytics for search ranking. The artifacts that will be depended on in the development of the website will also be guiding factors which include security aspects and considerations, legal aspects and considerations, social issues, and ethical aspects. Finally test the website loading speed after optimizing it when it has to be 0.8 seconds or even less.

Some of the aspects employed in the development of the website include; an architecture plan that beings with a database schema and this is by use of PHP framework, MVC, and frame and organize the codebase. Secondly, HTML-5 JavaScript APIs is the latest Hypertext Markup Language meant to describe the web pages is used in Chrome, Firefox, IE and Opera browsers that can foster improvement of experience of the website developed.

In addition, Rich Internet Application (RIA), web-based applications with graphical features have also been employed that will provide the users of the online website a better visual experience as well as more interactive than traditional browser application that only applies HTML and HTTP. With RIA, real-time chat, auto-completion of text, form filing assistance and updates will be fostered within the website. Therefore, WebSockets, Server Sent Events (SSE) or Web RTC which is an open framework allowing Real-Time Communications are applied in conjunction with third party APIs such as Facebook, Twitter are incorporated.

Finally, Git is a Version Control System; an open source software tool is also added into the online website. It is meant to assist the admin to make changes to source code over time and keep track of each modification made on the website.

Finally, the procedure followed in the development of the online restaurant website entails; choosing the best e-commerce solution and in this case food has been chosen. Following is the development of user-friendly website where technologies like Hypertext Processor (PHP) an open source scripting language to develop the database unto which the website will be developed upon. These are HTML, JavaScript and several others languages processors. Second, we integrate with other systems like Search Engine Optimization Content Management System (SEOCMS) that will assist in the process, analyze and form single or general pricelist.

Once it was complete, the next is to increase the online shopping experience and that is adding of SEO tools and analytical tools so as to increase online store pages loading speed that is not more than 0.8 seconds, add sub-categories or tags, apply advanced search and products filtering options and displaying all details for every product stock status, shipping cost and customers’ reviews. Finally, website will be launched and tested of all the components and features to make sure that the navigation experience, that is, compatibility with browsers, mobile navigation. Then there is checking out process of online purchases which must be integrated with payment options. Later the website will be promoted and finally evaluated how it will have performed.
