The literature reviews effective for reviewing the existing literatures, theories, concepts related to Amt services in the society and its implications for the young adults in maximising their wellbeing. The literature review provides a scope to the researcher to review the existing information and gain knowledge about the above mentioned research topic for further analysis and evaluation (Raglio et al., 2016).
AMT involved the individuals, who play the instruments such as drums, mallet with the professional therapist to overcome their physical challenges and mental illness. The practice of Amt involves the techniques of engaging the individuals in singing, music composition and playing the instruments.
The ways of AMT are,
Providing patient centred therapy, where the therapist tries to acknowledge the hobbies and preferences of the people and engage them in choosing the music according to their preferences.
Offering rhythmic structure for relaxation and breathing
Enhancing visualise positive imagery which provokes pleasure and happiness.
Playing music and use speaker for understanding own performance (Raglio et al., 2016)
Implementing screen for visual activities for enhancing positive impacts of images and music

Active music technique is one of the effective ways for the individuals to overcome their barriers in the life and it is helpful to improve the daily life activities of the individuals. The participation in the active music therapy is beneficial to improve the physical activities and it further enhance the social inclusion of the people which in turn provides a scope to the individuals to get involved in the society and get appreciation from others. These further encourage the individuals to improve their activities in the society and participate in the music therapeutic session for higher appreciation and improving their activities (Ikeuchi et al., 2018). Hereby, for both the physical activities and metal health, the AMT is one of the great practices for the therapist to improve the wellbeing of the individuals in the society, where the people can improve their mental health and manage depression to lead a normal life. The individuals also can be encouraged through the Amt session, where they are trying to conduct creative things in music and improve their innovation for better performance. Social inclusion and daily life activities are improved through Amt services and it further provides a scope to the individuals to improve their standard of living and manage their mental illness including depression, anxiety and stress. Additionally, AMT services are effective for the individuals to improve heart rate, and overcome the physical challenges among the individuals, where the people can improve their livelihood and tale active part in the daily activities which improves mobility of the people. It further helps to enhance motivation and creativity of the individuals and it reduces anxiety and depression. The people, who are suffering from mental illness, including depression, stress, lack of anxiety management and rude behaviour, may improve their behaviour and mental health through active music therapeutic intervention. Building self esteem and developing social and communication skill are also possible for the individuals through the AMT services. It is also beneficial to stimulate the brain and improve learning activities. Social communication can be improved through the therapy of active music, where the people can interact with the society and improve their participation (Golino et al., 2019). Communication skill can also be improved through singing, playing instruments and other therapeutic intervention, where the people can enhance their skill and knowledge to represent them and interact with the social communities. It also improves the speech of the individuals and thus it is effective for speech therapy, where the individuals can improve their communication and gain the way to interact with others. The emotional intelligence and ideas of understanding others in the society are also improving over the times, where the individuals become emotionally intelligent and they can participate and cooperate with others in the society.
The young people in the society face challenges to access the AMT services and the major challenges are such as,
High cost of care
Lack of financial stability
Inequality in accessing the services
Lack of available of the AMT services in the locality
Lack of culturally competent care
Poor cooperation and lack of communication
Poor health promotional campaign in the society
Lack of awareness among the social communities
For understanding the macro environmental condition for serving the people with efficient Amt services will be analysed through political stability, economic growth and social development as well as technological advancement, legal framework and environmental analysis.
For political factors, there is political stability and the cooperation and participation of the government where the government and local authority in Leeds provide fund for the charitable organisations to improve social wellbeing. Political stability and cooperation are hereby efficient for the organisations and therapist to support the people, who are in need, with the best active music therapy in the society (Hajizadegan et al., 2017).
There is economic growth which encourages the charity firms to provide proper support to the individuals with latest technique of AMT services. Moderate inflation rate, funding for the charitable institution, economic growth and increase in personal income will influence the organisations to provide high quality services related to AMT
Social development is another factor which influences the firms to provide high quality Amt services and in the recent years, the people are also educated and willing to gather knowledge and information about AMT services, available in the society. Social development and education among the people further influence the people in the society to access the high quality AMT services for participating in the activities and improving their physical and mental health.
Technological advancement plays a crucial role for improving the services related to AMT. Technological innovation and the advancement in information Technology (IT) are useful or the organisations and music therapist to utilise the ;attest creativity and IT infrastructure for better performance and therapy related to music. In this regard, the computerised systems are utilised as well as the online sites such as YouTube and other music application are also utilised for the people to help them teaching and learning more through musical instruments. There are also automatic music instruments which are helpful for the people to play and participate efficiently (Lotter and van Staden, 2019). Additionally, Information and Communication ecology (ICT) is also effective to enhance internal and external communication which further provides a scope to the therapist to manage the people and interact with them efficiently.
Legal framework is also effective, where privacy of the patients are managed well under the General data Protection Act 2018 as well as there are other legal practice in the organisations which are patient centred care, managing honesty and integrity, developing trust and mutual respect, maximising the patient’s preferences and values and managing transparency and equal opportunity under the Equality Act 2010 as well as the non-discrimination practice which maximise the vales for the people, who access the AMT services (Hajizadegan et al., 2017).
The environmental factors are also important to manage the AMT services in order to maximise the values of the people, where the green environmental footprint would be maximised by the therapists (Cohen, and Maxwell, 2020).
The micro environmental factors are also necessary to be evaluated in order to provide efficient AMT services. The strengths of providing the AMT services are strong service providing team, inter professional team working activities, presence of efficient therapist, strong management and financial stability (Cohen, and Maxwell, 2020). The weaknesses are lack of access of the services due to poor health promotional activities. The opportunities are expanding the AMT services through technological innovation and increasing the AMT services for the benefits of the social communities, who are in need. The threats are lack of financial asset and mismanagement (Lotter and van Staden, 2019).
Research methodology is necessary for this study to choose the appropriate method of progressing in the paper and complete it successfully.
As per the research onion, there are three types of research philosophy, which are interpretivism, realism, positivism. As per the realism philosophy, the findings and data are connected to the real activities in the society (Liu et al., 2019). Interpretivism philosophy is when the researcher lacks the focus on the validity and analysis of the data. It gives different point of views and explores different aspects of reality (Hu et al., 2017). On the other hand, the positivism philosophy gives validity and objectivity of the research where the researcher chooses precise method and support the research with statically and objective data (Johnston, 2017). It also determines different viewpoints of the people, where the research can give the chance to the people to express their feelings and share their perception about the research. In this study, the researcher will choose the positivism research philosophy for ensuring data validity and reliability and encourage people opinion for better analysis and evaluation of the researcher.
As per the research approach, there are two main approaches of the research, which are inductive and deductive. In the inductive research approach, the researcher considers the research questions and empirical data to develop the research hypothesis and theory. On the basis of the data analysis and research findings, the researcher develops the theory and concepts related to the research (Quinlan et al., 2019). On the other hand, the deductive approach is totally opposite to the inductive approach, where the deductive approach ensures that the researcher begins the research with theoretical base and understanding about the research concept and analyse the collected data and findings for in depth analysis and evaluation of the research (Liu et al., 2019). The research hypothesis is also tested after gaining in depth insights about the theory and concept related to the research. In this regard, the researcher chooses the deductive approach, where the researcher will gain in-depth understanding about the AMT services available in the society as well as its benefits and challenges for the young adult. After gaining in depth knowledge by reviewing the literatures including concepts and theories, the researcher will analyse the collected findings.
It is necessary to choose the data collection method and data analysis technique for successful completion of the project (Quinlan et al., 2019). There are two types of data collection method, which are primary and secondary. Under the primary data collection method, the researcher will collect the first hand information and data directly from the participants, which is effective for the researcher to gather relevant information from the participants (Quinlan et al., 2019). On the other hand, the secondary data collection method is related to collecting the information from the secondary sources which are books, journals, online articles, business letters, and other news articles (Liu et al., 2019). In this regard, the researcher will focus on choosing the data collection methods, primary and secondary, in order to progress in the research efficiently and evaluate the research topic successfully by fulfilling the aims and objectives of the research. The researcher will choose the secondary data collection method, where the reviewing the literature sources including books, journals and online articles related to the active music therapy and the access of the young people in the society will be effective for this study. Through collecting the secondary sources of information, the researcher will evaluate and analyse the above mentioned research topic, where the researcher can gain in depth understanding and understand the concepts of AMT to analyse the research topic. On the other hand, the researcher will also select the primary data collection method, where it is possible to collect the data and information from the young adults and the staff and management team or the health care provider who provide the AMT services in the society. In this regard, the researcher will choose the survey questionnaire for taking interview with the staff or the management team of the charitable firms situated in Leeds and the charity firms are Archway and IAPT Touchstone. The interview will be arranged to get proper opinion from the staff members at the charity firms situated in Leeds, which will provides a scope to the researcher to collect their views and understanding about providing the AMT services to the individuals. Hereby, both the primary and secondary data collection method will be chosen by the researcher to fulfil the aims and objectives of the research. In this regard, the researcher will choose the sample size of 10 staff, 5 staff members in both the organisations, Archway and IAPT Touchstone, which will provide an opportunity to the researcher to collect their understanding about providing the services of AMT. the researcher will arrange the interview process efficiently for encouraging the participants and influence them to provide relevant information related to the AMT services at Archway and IAPT Touchstone.
In this regard, there are two types of data analysis technique; one is quantitative and other is qualitative. Under the quantitative data analysis technique, the researcher tries to evaluate the collected findings by utilising statistical tools, table charts, analysis, tables and figures and on the other hand, qualitative data analysis method is related to the evaluation, where the researcher will analyse the collected findings on the basis of the gathered they and concept related to the research project (Gray, 2019). In this particular research, the researcher will choose the qualitative data analysis method, where it would be possible to analyse and evaluate the findings on the basis of the secondary data including the theories and concepts related to the AMT services. Hereby, the researcher will analyse the primary data and findings on the basis of the secondary data and it is effective for the researcher to complete the project successfully by selecting the qualitative data analysis technique.
Ethical consideration is necessary for the researcher to complete the research ethically and in this regard, the researcher will protect the privacy of the participants, by implementing the Data protection Act 1998, and ensure the participants that, the collected information about the organisational practice will be kept with security and the gathered information will be utilised only for this research purpose, not any other purposes. In addition to this, the researcher ensures the reliability and validity of the data so that the authenticity of the research will be managed well. The secondary sources will be represented with proper citation of the authors and the primary data will also be represented by managing the security of the data. On the other hand, the researcher will not force the participants to participate in the interview, rather he or she will convince the respondents and get proper consent letter from the organisation to manage the ethical consideration of the research (Gough and Richardson, 2018). The polite behaviour, emotional intelligence skill as well as trust and respect the participants will also provide a scope to the researcher to conduct the interview successfully where the researcher would be able to manage the respondents and complete the research by considering all the ethical rules of conducting the research.
In the recent years, there are many opportunities to utilise latest technology and method to provide the AMT services to the people, who are in need. The AMT services are beneficial for the people to improve their physical and mental health and it also provides a scope for development of the cognitive skill and communication. Hereby, the service providers and therapist aim at utilising the latest technology and instruments to improve the quality of Amt services. However, there are some challenges for which the young adults face difficulties to access the AMT services and the major challenges are lack of access due to inequality, financial instability, poor communication and non-cooperation as well as lack of awareness about the AMT services. In this regard, it is necessary for the service providers and therapist to develop intervention plan and increase the presence of charitable organisations to provide equal treatment and AMT services to all the people across the social communities, who are in need (Raglio et al., 2017). This further will help the therapists to raise awareness about AMT services in the society and develop patient centred care by empowering and engaging all the young adults in the society.
